I'll be the first to admit that I've had a bit of an obsession with the grill this summer. My dad and step-mom gifted us their lovingly used grill and ever since I have been trying to think of various items for roasting there upon.
While surfing the internet one night, I stumbled upon an intriguing idea: grilled bananas. And then the thought came: grilled banana splits! I thought the idea had merit so I gave it a try... and was glad I did. The cold ice cream over a warm mixture of peanut butter, chocolate, and banana was uber yummy.
Making them is super easy:
-Cut a banana (in the peel) lengthwise.
-Fill the inside of the banana with peanut butter, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, or whatever strikes your fancy.
-Wrap the banana in foil and grill for 7-10 minutes.
-Carefully unwrap the banana from the foil and remove the peel. Be sure to get all the little 'stringy-thingies' from the peel.
-If you wish top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Now, you tell me: ain't grills just grand?
