Welcome Home, Button: A Baby Story...

Okay. Full disclosure: this is a birth story; the tale of how a little person made their way into the big, bright world. Now, as miraculous as birth is, it ain’t always pretty. So, consider yourself warned. I won’t be posting any crotch shots or nip pics, but I won’t be censoring myself much either. This is how it happened. This is Buttons birth story: presented in its original format, with all the blood, sweat, and tears that come with it. I still find it very miraculous, but if that kind of stuff makes you squeamish, perhaps you would enjoy another post, like this one or this one, perhaps.

In any case, don’t say I didn’t warn you...

Yowza! It's been awhile, no? I blame not having a functioning computer, but now that problem is solved! Hallelu!

$6 Laundry "Room" Makeover

Okay. So, this isn't really a laundry room makeover, strictly speaking. I wish I had a laundry room to makeover. I have a laundry closet, as much as it pains me to say it.

Someday, I will have a lovely laundry room with counter space and cabinets and a sink and storage for things like laundry detergent and cleaning supplies (imagine that). But for now, I have a tiny, unimpressive laundry nook. It is small and cramped and not at all lovely. Well, at least it was "not at all lovely."

Using a few dollars and a little creativity, I gave the laundry closet a little facelift. It may not be completely lovely, but it's better than what it was before.

And, yes. I know how awful this looks. And, yes. I'm cringing, too. And yes, that is a griddle on top of my washing machine. Yes. A griddle. For pancakes. In my laundry closet.
And, no, apparently I have no shame...

Geez Whiz!

Wow! December has been a crazy month for us. Lots of ups and downs.

   The Ups:
      - Finally refinancing our house (can you say four and a quarter, boy-ee?).
      - The doctors office writing off 89% of what we owe them for Boo's 3 days hospital stay in July (saving us nearly 1000 smackers).
      - Christmas (I love me some Christmas!).
      - Lots of family time ('tis the season). Busy, busy, busy...
      - Lilo's first teeth and steps. Go, baby, go!

   The Downs:
      - Our truck, our last means of transportation, broke down (boo for being stranded).
      - Sickness ran a amok in our home (sniffles and coughing and sneezing, oh my!).
      - Migraines have plagued me this month, the worst of which caused me to puke my guts out into an unpaid for, off the shelf trashcan... in the automotive section at my friendly neighborhood Wal-mart (though, I guess the "up" in this situation was I got a new trashcan).

But the worst "down" of all was losing my camera... and over 1200 of Lilo and Boo (almost all of my pictures of little Lilo). I was (and, to an extent, still am) heartbroken about the loss. So many pictures just gone.

Not to mention, I had so many wonderful post ideas (with photos, lots of photos), but when this happened, it totally took the wind out of my sails.

So, I'm sorry I've been MIA (again). New Years is approaching and one of my many resolutions is to recommit myself to posting here. I have a new resolve (and a new camera) to keep me motivated and moving forward. Fingers-crossed that January is a little less eventful...
